track forum comments?
any chance co.mments could track forum posts too?
I tend to post on a lot of blogs, for which it works great, but also a number of forums (for which it doesn’t work at all).
For example: voodoo extreme on ign: http://ve3dboards.ign.com/message.asp?topic=26215973
I’d guess a lot of forums use standard code.. so i’d think it wouldn’t be too hard. (though they do often take you to a second page to post, dunno if thats a problem).

co.mments doesn’t generally work with forums. they are more tricky than blogs, so I won’t be adding support in the near future.

thats a shame, as a few blogs use forums for thei comments.. then again, i guess they are mosly on the ign network.
Still, keep up the good work.
PS/ Japan Today comments don’t seem to be showing up (i’m sure they used to) and joystiq’s system of splitting the comments into 50 per page also seems to cause problems.

I’ve been wanting a “track all my comments and posts regardless of whether it’s on a blog or in a forum or for that matter in a Zoho notes or whatever” for years.

Yep, would be very useful. Even if it’s only for the popular forum programs, like vBulletin, phpBB, etc. it would still be very handy.

If co.mments do track forum post my job would be significantly reduced. I tend to write about 80 to 100 post daily, both on blog and on forum.

@Camping: I agree with you the job of bloggers like us would be significantly reduced if co.mments (and other sites as well) would track forum post. (I also tend to write about a 100 post daily, most on blog and a little bit on forum). Not only for myself, but also for a 2 handicapped people who cannot easily ‘be’ on the Net.
Keep up the good work.

I’m re-visiting this thread after several months with more info. Google Blogoscoped is an example of a site which co.mments can’t track but also doesn’t have a viable means of tracking comments via e.g. RSS. The ability to track things like that would be very useful.
Even if each site requires a separate branch in the code, I think that for a handful of popular sites and platforms it would be worthwhile.

I don’t see any options for tracking a forum thread via email notifications.
Specifically, if I’m interested in a forum thread, how can I set options so that I will get email notifications of any new postings in that forum thread?

That’s because co.mments doesn’t support tracking forums.
